Growth for local economies, new green jobs, and significant returns for investors could be unlocked by transforming ports into clean energy hubs. On World Maritime Day, C40 Cities together with global engineering and built environment consultancy, Arup, will showcase leading and innovative projects from subnational governments and ports on both the US East and West Coasts, as they set out a path to deliver climate positive transformation and socioeconomic benefits to local communities, businesses, and investors.
Hear from subnational and industry leaders as they share firsthand experiences driving this change during a dynamic panel session at the UN Global Compact Hub during Climate Week NYC. Building on global insights from a new report, Ports as Clean Energy Hubs, the event will also explore the untapped opportunities port cities could catalyse as sustainable fuel hubs, electrification hubs and offshore wind hubs. The report, which provides a clear toolkit and global best practice to help city leaders seize this opportunity, will be available to all participants on the day.
Please indicate that the event is closed-door, and to contact Majka Wankiewicz (mwankiewicz@c40.org) for inquiries.
This session is a private, sponsored event by Arup. The inclusion of this session, company names and/or examples is intended strictly for private learning purposes. It does not constitute any endorsement of the companies and individuals by the UN Global Compact.
